Cheryl Gushue has been involved in the fashion industry for eighteen years. Her experience expands from television appearances, styling, designing clothes, creating hair & makeup looks, creative direction, writing, photo shoots, backstage makeup and fashion show production. Her work has been published internationally. She is an educator and a beauty expert, appears on national television and writes for beauty publications.
Her awards include two time Canadian Makeup Artist of the Year and North American Makeup Artist of the Year. Every year her work is featured as top five in the Canadian industry. In 2007 she was a finalist for top five in North America. She collaborates in shoots for award winning salons across Canada. Cheryl has twice been invited to participate in a world makeup competition in Germany where she was the only artist from North America.
Her PR and media appearances are frequent on national makeover shows. Previously the Beauty Consultant/Spokesperson for L’oreal Paris at Toronto Fashion Week she was doing makeup backstage and press interviews for two seasons. She has also been a Beauty Consultant/Spokesperson for a national beauty product launch handling all television, radio and print press for two annual campaigns. Cheryl was the on camera makeup artist for the makeover show So Chic with Chris Hyndeman and Steven Sabatos as well as stylist to the guests. She was the makeup artist for the show called Style Dept for Suzanne Dimma.
Representing hair companies and the beauty industry, Cheryl has headed up makeup teams since 1996. She has created stage makeup looks for countless shows for L’oreal at the annual ABA, press release events and Fashion Week. She created the makeup and styling for the 2007 Contessa stage presentation for Joico as well as many award winning collaborations with Joico salons for shoot makeup and styling. She has styled Goldwell’s Trend Zoom shows for the last several years held in Vegas, Mexico and Berlin as well as designed and keyed the makeup looks. In 2007 at the Mexico and Berlin shows she was also a guest presenter to an audience of 1,500 beauty professionals which was a first for the industry to offer makeup and styling as a presentation segment.
In keeping with her design background Cheryl has designed a line of swimwear that has been shown twice on Fashion Television and has shown five fashion show parties for promotion. Her swimwear has been featured on Canada’s Next Top Model as the wardrobe for the opening show photo.
Cheryl has taught all the fashion colleges in Toronto as well as private courses. She now gives seminars at beauty trade shows in New York, LA, Chicago and London.
Her most rewarding jobs are presenting on camera, creative directing for photo shoots and shows and sharing her experience by teaching seminars to beauty professionals around the world.
